“Mal­brouck s’en vat’en guerre,” Novem­ber 1915: As Churchill leaves the gov­ern­ment for the
trench­es, E.T. Reed draws a mature-look­ing WSC lead­ing the gen­er­als: “And it won’t be long,
we expect, before things begin to hum, under the Churchill touch.” Rarely seen since publication,
this was pub­lished in “The Bystander” rather than Reed’s usu­al venue, “Punch.”
